Dr Mai,

May i know when and where can I collect my SRI feedback from you?
The memo that u sent out last week was too short on notice. I wasn't in campus, so i couldn't collect it then.

Report 1

I have finished marking the Reports 1 and I want everyone to come to the consultation class tomorrow at 2pm to disccus them. We will not be having the consultation per group. I will be holding the consultation in the lecture class from 2-4pm and we will discuss your report 1 as a whole.

Attendance is compulsory.

There are still MANY of you who are getting your referencing and citations wrong. Consult the references I have here for you before consultation. I would like to NOT see these mistakes repeated in the next report.

Also, why do some of you hand in your reports with no title to your research?????

be prepared for an indepth discussion tomorrow during consultation time. Everybody please be there at 2pm.

Thank you.

regards,
Dr. Mai

Table of Contents

Just to inform everyone... we won't be doing a "preface" so make sure your table of contents doesn't include this. :)

Citattions and Referencing

Dear all,

Here is a site for you to look at to know how to reference and cite your sources:

1. http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~pxc/refs/index.html

This class is using the American Psychological Association (APA) style of referencing:

2. http://www.waikato.ac.nz/library/learning/g_apaguide.shtml#how

Please go to the MMU IPS Website for additional information on how to cite/reference your sources:

3. http://www.mmu.edu.my/ips/

Please take note as the formatting and referencing of your thesis is VERY important!

Happy research!

Research Methodology readings

Dear all,

Some sites with additional research methodology readings you can refer to. These ones are easy and simple enough to understand the process and will give you an idea of how you can use different methods to collect data.

1. http://www.languages.ait.ac.th/el21meth.htm (writing up your research)
2. http://gsociology.icaap.org/methods/(resources for research methods)
3. http://www.whatisasurvey.info/ (how to do surveys)
4. http://www.rdg.ac.uk/ssc/publications/guides/toptgs.html (how to present your research results)
5. http://wilderdom.com/qualitative.html (for info in qualitative research)

Look at these resources to see how you can incorporate that in your writeups.

Happy research!

Dr. Boss :-)

Report 1 Submission

Dear MI Group 1,

Submission of Report 1 (Abstract, TOC and Chapter 1) is postponed to Monday, Dec 15, 2008, from 11am - 1pm.

Please submit to Ms. Siti or Ms. Jariah in the FCM Admin Office during that period.

Please remember to sign the submission sheet when you drop off your report. If you are having a friend submit for you, please make sure they sign on your behalf. Consultation will be as usual on Tuesday, where I will give you back your feedback on Report 1.

In the meantime, please continue to writeup your other chapters, especially your Literature Review chapter, in preparation for your Report 2 submission the following week. Those who need to read up on methodologies, please download the notes from the class website http://pesona.mmu.edu.my/~neomai/sri/, under the Assignment section (Report 2 requirements).

Please make sure you format your chapters properly and staple your reports.

Best of luck!
